Are You Ready To Fly?
Letter from the Editor - Tim Trotter

Many years ago, I got the itch to get my private pilots license. It was quite an eye opening experience to say the least. I took my time in locating the right flight instructor who in my opinion had the best approach to learning. He was a stickler on details, especially preflight protocol…inspecting your plane, planning and filing your flight plan. Those three elements are critical for a safe and enjoyable flight. Knowing your aircraft is safe and up to snuff is a given, but sometimes overlooked. Knowing where you are going, planning your route, estimating your fuel consumption and communicating this to flight service is paramount. Surprisingly, the biggest reason for aircraft accidents is running out of fuel. Most commonly, pilots may get lost (lack of planning) and run low on fuel. That’s kind of hard to believe, but true.

In business, things aren’t much different. The majority of business executives lack many of the same disciplines. Looking at your internal capabilities (people and products) to see if they are up to snuff is essential to drive your company forward. Additionally, selecting the right path for your company and communicating to all is key. Everything you do should relate to your overall direction for a successful outcome. The price you pay for not doing this will result falling short of your destination. That could be fatal to your company. The choice is yours…choose wisely!

To your success,

Tim Trotter
